NSS mourns the loss of Majel Barrett Roddenberry, actress and NSS Governor

The National Space Society mourns the loss of a member of its Board of Governors, Majel Barrett Roddenberry. Roddenberry, widow of Gene Roddenberry, the creator of Star Trek, passed away on December 18, 2008.  Majel Barrett Roddenberry is well known for her roles in the Star Trek TV series and films, including her role as Nurse Christine Chapel in the original Star Trek TV series, as Lwaxana Troi in Star Trek: The Next Generation, and as the voice of the USS Enterprise computer.

Ms. Roddenberry recently reprised the voice role in the upcoming Star Trek film to be released in May 2009, directed by J.J. Abrams. The condolences of the entire membership of the NSS go out to the Roddenberry family.
